For citizens of a country as young as the United States, watching the pomp and circumstance surrounding the Queen of England is nothing short of a marvel. In an unprecedented celebration in England recently, the entire country came together to honor the reign of Queen Elizabeth, who has spent 70 years on the throne. The Queen was delighted by the celebrations, which went on for days and honored her long legacy to the people of England.

“When it comes to how to mark 70 years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first. But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee,” she said to her constituents.

Three generations of her family joined her on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the pageantry of carnival floats that showcased and celebrated the seven decades of her reign. The pageant began with a military parade with personnel from the UK’s armed forces and from across the Commonwealth. Another astounding part of the pageantry was the 260-year-old Gold State Coach which carried the Queen to her coronation in 1953, that rode through the streets in this parade, with the Queen appearing as a hologram inside.

The parade lasted two hours with the heirs to the royal throne, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George enjoying it from the royal box. The parade featured over 300 cyclists, a fleet of vintage cars, a full array of James Bond cars, and a plethora of musicians, television stars, designers, chefs, and artists who have all had a hand in creating the culture of Great Britain over the last 70 years.

“While I may not have attended every event in person, my heart has been with you all; and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family. I have been inspired bythe kindness, joy and kinship that has been so evident in recent days, and I hope this renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come,” BBC reported the Queen as saying.

For fans of the royal monarchy in the United States, there really is nothing like the Queen and her 70-year reign. Perhaps because the U.S. is so young, many U.S. citizens are duly fascinated by the pomp and circumstance of England’s monarchy, and the fact that the Queen has reigned for 70 years. And maybe because her rule in the country is more ceremonial in nature, there is no counterpart in the U.S.

According to Adnan Zai, an Advisor to Berkeley Capital, “I think a lot has to be said about tradition and formality associated with having a monarch and the history that comes with it. The only comparison that has been made in the U.S. is to the Kennedy family and their legacy.

”Despite the fact that the Kennedy family is indeed known widely throughout the United States, there simply is no ruler in our country that can stack up to the Queen of England. And with our long history intertwined with Great Britain, that is yet another reason why the United States is fascinated with her 70-year reign. At 96 years old, Queen Elizabeth is a beacon for those in England and abroad, and she certainly deserves the celebration.
